Our Story...
Christie the Baker: A Legacy of Scottish Baking Excellence
For generations, we've been a cherished part of the Airdrie, Coatbridge, and, more recently the Linlithgow and Whitburn communities. At Christie the Baker, we blend time-honored traditions with an unwavering passion for baking, earning us multiple awards along the way. Our loyal customers know us best for our iconic Scotch pies, freshly baked Plain bread, fluffy Morning rolls, and irresistible Cream rings, but that's just the beginning.
Baked with Passion, Rooted in Community
Our dedication to quality is evident in every loaf, pie, and cake. It's in the hands of our loyal team, some of whom have dedicated over 40 years of their lives to their craft. With a combined master baking experience of over 180 years, our team doesn't just bake; they create. We believe in nurturing talent, which is why we invest heavily in training and apprenticeships, ensuring the future of exceptional Scottish baking.
Our commitment extends beyond our shops and into the heart of our community. We are proud to sponsor local groups, from amateur dramatic societies and bowling clubs to football and rugby clubs. We regularly donate to local charities and school fundraisers because we believe that a great bakery is a cornerstone of a great community.
As Seen on TV
You may have seen us on your screen! We had the pleasure of showing off our skills on television, including Paul Hollywood's "Pies and Puds" and Channel 4's "Food Unwrapped."
Pies and Puds Episode 8 with Paul Hollywood and on Channel 4's Food Unwrapped "A Healthy New Year" in January 2022.
Meet Our Director, Andrew Chisholm

The proud legacy of Christie the Baker is carried on by Andrew Chisholm. With over 37 years of baking experience, Andrew learned the trade from his father and grandfather, carrying on a family tradition that spans generations. Since taking over from the Christie family in 2012, he has been on a mission to honor our history while guaranteeing the best quality for you.
Andrew’s expertise in fermentation and his deep knowledge of the industry are unmatched. He is a stickler for quality, sourcing only the finest Scottish ingredients—from local meat and flour to fresh fruit and milk—so that every bite exceeds your expectations. See our Statement of Provenance for the full story on our ingredients.
When he's not in the bakery, Andrew is a dedicated family man, spending time with his wife, Carolyn, and their family, who are all avid taste-testers. Andrew is a board member of the Scottish Bakers Association and when not working, loves to keep fit, golf, watch rugby and travel. Carolyn, who also comes from a product development, nutrition, and bakery background, brings her passion for baking and attention to detail to everything we do.
