Christie the Baker is a traditional high street baker with shops in Airdrie and Coatbridge, best known for its Scotch pies, Plain bread and Morning rolls. The former, a winner in the World Scotch Pie Champion award and the later were voted “Best in Scotland” at the Scottish Baker of the Year awards.
With over 48 members of staff, the shops are open Monday to Friday from 8:30am until 4.30pm and on a Saturday from 8:30am until 4pm.
Christie the Baker is at the heart of its local community; from sponsoring local amateur dramatic societies, bowling clubs, Albion Rovers and Airdrie FC Football teams to making donations to local charities and school fundraisers.
Andrew Chisholm is the owner of Christie the Baker and has been in the industry for over 37 years, starting as an apprentice at 16 with his father and grandfather also bakers. Andrew took over the bakery in 2012, continuing its incredible 75-year history. Andrew is extremely passionate about baking with huge knowledge of fermentation, tradition and the baking industry as a whole. He ensures only the finest and best ingredients such as the meat, flour, fresh fruit, and eggs are all bought from local Scottish suppliers to not only meet his standards but to guarantee yours.
Andrew is a member of the Scottish Bakers Association and when not working, loves to run, golf, watch rugby and spend time with his wife, family and friends.
